Steve Genewick

Steve Genewick is a highly esteemed American recording and mix engineer with a career spanning decades, marked by his expertise in both live and studio environments. Having served as a staff engineer at Capitol Studios in Los Angeles since 1994, Genewick has built a reputation for his technical skill, attention to detail, and unparalleled ability to bring out the best in artists.
During his time at Capitol, he had the privilege of regularly collaborating with the late, 20-time Grammy Award-winning engineer and producer, Al Schmitt.
Over the years, Genewick has contributed to projects with some of the most iconic and diverse artists in the music industry, including Bastille, Elton John, Trisha Yearwood, Diana Krall, Gladys Knight, Neil Young, Quincy Jones, Burt Bacharach, and Paul McCartney. His extensive catalog reflects his versatility, from pop and rock to jazz and classical.
Outside of his work at Capitol Studios, Genewick has worked at world-renowned recording facilities including United Studios, The Village, Abbey Road, and La Fabrique, further honing his craft and establishing himself as a sought-after engineer in the industry. His experience spans across both traditional studio recording and groundbreaking live sound engineering.
In recognition of his contributions, Genewick received the Pensado Award for Best Recording Engineer in 2017, a testament to his exceptional skills and dedication. Additionally, in 2020, he was part of the Universal Audio and Capitol Studios Team that won a TEC Award for the innovative Capitol Chambers plug-in at the NAMM Conference.
As a pioneer in Dolby Atmos mixing, Genewick has embraced cutting-edge audio technologies to create immersive listening experiences. He completed his first Atmos projects in July 2017 and has since been developing and refining techniques that have positioned him as a leader in the field of spatial audio.
